Stonefly nymphs live on river beds and when they rise to the surface as adults trout and grayling gorge themselves on these.

Stonefly nymphs live on river beds and when they rise to the surface as adults trout and grayling gorge themselves on these. Sometimes stoneflies can be dislodged on the river bed and fish will eat them at this time also. As these fly patterns are weighted they are ideal as a point fly when Czech Nymphing. Rainbow trout will also take these trout flies as they emulate natural insects. Selecting colour depends on water clarity, time of year and the hue of the naturals. A must fly for any river fly fisher.
